First Steps

1. Check to ensure that your name is spealt the same on all your important documents. This is especially important for married women who may have some documents in their maiden name and others in their married name;

2. Get your name on land titles and car titles as soon as you can.  There are times when you may have inheritted property but have not taken the steps to ensure that your name is on the titles.  Don't delay; get your name on the titles as soon as you can.

3. There are times when you may have to do car repairs which involve chaging the engine in your vehicle; ensure that you do the necessary amendments to car documents to reflect the new engine number;

4. If the property you own is unregistered land, take the necessary steps to secure registered titles.

5. If you have lost your land title; don't delay do the lost title application as soon as you can in order to obtain a new certificate of title.

6. Take an inventory or all the property which you own.

7. Put together a list of all the friends and family which you would want to include in your Last Will and Testament.
